The
Association for Shared Learning ELA received the international award of Zero Project for innovative practice for the
Bulgarian Model for building an inclusive school environment "One School for All". The official award ceremony was held during the
Zero Project Conference 2020 which took place on February 19th-21st 2020 in Vienna, Austria. More than 800 people from over 90 countries participated in the conference, including representatives of business organizations, government and non-governmental sector. The main topic of the conference was innovative solutions, both policies and practices that support people with disabilities, with focus on the inclusive education this year.
Our team was represented by Lilia Krasteva-Peeva and Liliya Arakchieva who participated as speakers in two of the sessions of the conference. They’ve presented the Model “One School for All” and the results of its implementing in Bulgaria and the beginning of its
scale-up in other European countries.
Our team was travelling to Vienna two days earlier to participate in the Zero Project 2020 Accelerator (Impact Transfer Program). We were among the 10 organizations receiving support in the form of consultations and training from Zero Project and
Ashoka on how to develop the business plan and scale-up of the One for All School Model as a social innovation that would be also available outside of Bulgaria.
We are thankful to all the teachers and school principals with whom we have built and tested the Model, as well as the
America for Bulgaria Foundation for their support throughout the years.
