The Centre for Inclusive Education will hold its annual International Inclusive Education Conference 2019 entitled
Social Emotional Learning on 5-6 October 2019 in Pomorie town, Festa Via Pontica Hotel, with the support of
America for Bulgaria Foundation and
VELUX Foundations.
For the seventh time, the forum will gather specialists, experts and practitioners from all spheres of inclusive education, who will share ideas and exchange experience applicable to their fellow professionals.
For the first time, though, we are meeting at the seaside to work together for two days.
This year’s conference will focus on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) as a systemic approach to the development of student social emotional skills. While entirely focused on the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) component, we tend to neglect the SEL component which makes it possible to utilize our accumulated knowledge. The event will highlight the attempt to find a meeting point between academic and social skills, which is an ongoing process of research of children’s needs at every stage of child development.
Apart from presenting relevant international experience on the topic, the Conference will offer opportunities for discussions, parallel workshops, experience sharing and networking among the participants. The event’s two-day format will enable us to apply social-emotional learning on the spot and experiment with our own improved skills and adaptability to environments.
The agenda is designed in a way allowing enough time for both formal and informal learning and sharing, so that all participants are able to take away something useful which may be applied later in their everyday work.
