Association for Shared Learning ELA is a public benefit organization actively engaged in conducting training sessions, resolving school-related cases, carrying out research, organizing advocacy campaigns, and hosting student camps.
As
Save the Children UK - Bulgaria Programme (1997–2007), we sought alternatives to institutionalizing children and prompted the government to take action toward closing so-called "children's homes."
As the
Center for Inclusive Education (2007–2019), we promoted the inclusive environment as a value and shared responsibility in Bulgarian schools.
Currently, we are focusing our efforts on restoring the abandoned school in the village of Sturgel, Gorna Malina Municipality, where we implement our programs
"Understanding the World of Others" and
"School Makes Sense." We also organize one-day teambuilding sessions for challenging classes.
In 2023, as part of the Bulgarian Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale, we presented the trend of transforming abandoned schools in Bulgaria into spaces with new educational and cultural functions.
How We Think
- We believe in shared learning and collective efforts.
- We know that support for every child makes inclusion a reality for all.
- We believe that diversity – in nature and society alike – is the foundation of sustainability.
